Education is very important all over the world. Here in Mexico, it is very difficult to attend schools because of the costs of supplies and resources for children, teens and young adults. The Sonoda Foundation makes every effort to try to help anyone who wants an education to have an opportunity. We help to provide educational tools as well as support through amazing organizations like Baja Ed, who provide scholarships as well as a learning center for in student learning. Currently through Baja Ed, the Sonoda Foundation sponsors several students. Help us support more students by donating to our Education & Scholarship fund today by clicking here.
Above is young Aldair, 2, when we built a home for his grandmother in 2012. Today, we sponsor this young man as he just graduated to enter middle school. Aldair regularly writes us progress reports to let us know he is still motivated to reach his goals. He is an example for many young children. He just celebrated his 12th birthday November, 2022
"Hello, my name is Aldair Gil Santiago Arango and I am 10 years old.
I want to thank you for the great support you have given us. Very grateful for the scholarship, you have given me the opportunity to study, thank you, thank you because of it I can buy my materials, and then when we are attending school in person I can buy my backpack, uniform, etc. Honestly, thank you so much. We are 4 siblings and.... well the youngest is still a baby. So there are three of us who are studying and I know that if it wasn't for the scholarship it would be hard for my parents to buy things for school for us. So thank you very much.
Blessings "
Above, our newest student, Alejandra Segura Perez, receiving her high school graduation certificate from Baja Ed. Alejandra will be attending Universidad for Business Administration. Our hope is to be able to support her for the next 4 years. Below is a picture with her father and mother.
We met young Karla in 2012. Her story goes back to when she was a little girl and a home was built for her family, and the journey to where she is today, all thanks to God. We've had the privilege of contributing to her education through University & Medical School.
Today, Dr. Karla Carmona is serving her community in Ensenada and the surrounding areas. Her passion was to be able to return to her community to give back and take care of them. God is answering her prayers as she is also a fervant advocate for medical missions.
Ian is very happy and doing very well. He enjoys summer vacations with his family. His father is glad because Ian’s teacher says he’s doing very well at school. Ian is in now in the sixth grade of elementary, and he is improving his grades.
Above is Aylin, who is now 10. Aylin is the younger sister of Alberto. Aylin is very happy to be back in school since the pandemic took two years away from her. Aylin is a very outgoing girl who loves outdoor activities. She also looks up to her older brother and loves him very much.
Staying connected and deepening our relationship. Here in 2023 with Dr. Karla & her one year old Camila. Not pictured her husband Manuel.
Alberto is now 16 and in high school. He loves to play sports and is very involved at his church, Comunidad Encuentro. He is currently on the multimedia team which produces live feeds from their services to social media. He has aspirations to become an architect. Alberto is an amazing older brother to Aylin, as he watches after and cares for her. He is dedicated to be a great example for her.
Meet Susana. She is a young adult who dreams of getting a degree in Education. She is a single mother of two precious daughters and lives with her parents. She works daily at a factory and cares for her girls after work. On the weekend, she attends SISCOM Institute, where she is studying to complete High School in an Adult Education Program. Susana and her family struggle to make ends meet. She is working hard to help support her parents, her family and her education. Currently, her life has been overwhelming and she has felt hopeless. She is grateful because she believes this scholarship will be a huge opportunity to change her life, to get a better job and better provide for her daughters and parents. We're so proud of Susana for her courage to step out in faith and dedicate herself to be the best woman God created her to be. We're blessed to be able to be a part of her journey.
