November 2023 Baja House Build Mission Sonoda Foundation & Comunidad Encuentro
For the Sonoda Foundation, our House Build Mission this November is the largest fundraising event of our year. We have set big goals this year to raise at least $60,000 to greatly impact this community in Maneadero B.C. Along with providing shelter for La Familia Torres Nunez, we are hoping to help expand several ministries in the community for Christ. We hope to provide even more educational scholarships and school supplies for hungry young children and adults. This is one way we believe we can help stop the cycle of poverty. The waiting list is over 100 for support. Currently, we are supporting 8 students from Elementario to Universidad. We would like to double or triple that. Another wonderful project we hope to launch is currently called "Mobile Ministry". Our local church, Comunidad Encuentro, is taking church by car to the many local villages to share the love of God, while also teaching very basic skills like reading, writing and speaking. Thousands of children do not attend school. Currently they only have their vehicles which get beat up by the rough roads and they don't have much space to carry supplies. Our hope is to provide a 15 passenger van for their church which will open so many opportunities of outreach and transportation. We hope to provide support for food and health supplies for an ongoing thriving outreach ministry that cares for the lost and hurting, Encuentro De Amor. (Video Below). 2023 Baja House Build Mission
Meet La Familia Torres Nunez
This November 2023, the Sonoda Foundation has been called to Maneadero B.C. to provide shelter for this family. The mother is Joselyn. She lives with her partner, Dante Uriel and her 3 children, Diana, 13, Leonardo, 8 and baby Joselyn, almost 2. Dante is from Ensenada and Joselyn returned to Ensenada from Acapulco, Guerrero after struggling for 4 years.
Back in late 2021, God put it on our hearts to help plant a church in Ensenada. During a special event called "Noche De Vision" "Night Of Vision", with over 60 people in attendance, the vision was cast by Pastors Daniel Priego & Carolina Balanzar, about a calling to step out in faith, to lead people to Jesus Christ and to form a church where people could have community and feel safe. Along with that inspiration came the vision for the Sonoda Foundation. Beginning with several committed families, Comunidad Encuentro has not stopped working day and night to grow into the church God is calling us to be. The Sonoda Foundation is committed to support and care for our local church to carry out the mission of caring for those hurting and reaching the lost for Christ.

To help end the cycle of poverty, we feel very strongly that the opportunity for an education can create generational hope. After years of building homes for hard working families, we were left knowing we would likely be building homes for their children. So we began a partnership with Baja Ed, a non-profit organization in Mexico that helps to not only provide scholarships, but also provides necessary school supplies. One of the ways we help students is by providing laptops so they can study and do homework at home. With your support, we can continue to help make dreams come true.

"Hello, my name is Aldair Gil Santiago Arango and I am 10 years old.
I want to thank you for the great support you have given us. Very grateful for the scholarship, you have given me the opportunity to study, thank you, thank you because of it I can buy my materials, and then when we are attending school in person I can buy my backpack, uniform, etc. Honestly, thank you so much. We are 4 siblings and.... well the youngest is still a baby. So there are three of us who are studying and I know that if it wasn't for the scholarship it would be hard for my parents to buy things for school for us. So thank you very much.
